With more than 20 years of experience, Patrícia Paias has been supporting national and international clients in R&D, innovation, regulatory, sustainability, transactions and Intellectual Property matters.

Patrícia has extensive experience in the daily support of Life Sciences & Healthcare, Energy and mobility Clients, with a special focus on patent litigation and litigation with regulators, advising on the entire product development strategy, from R&D to launch.

In 2003, joined F. Castelo Branco & Associados, currently Eversheds Sutherlands. In 2007, was Trainee at the European Patent Office in Munich, directorate 5.2.25., International and Legal PCT Affairs.

Subsequently, in 2008, Patrícia joined VdA, Vieira de Almeida & Associados, where she remained as Managing Associate until 2017, having been regularly referenced as Tier 1 in Chambers and Legal 500.

Between 2018 and 2022, Patrícia has been in-house in multinational pharmaceutical companies, having been Lead IP Litigation Counsel at Sandoz International GmbH in Munich and Director International IP, ACE, at Gilead Sciences, Inc., in Dublin, where she had international roles on multijurisdictional Litigation, Policy and Advocacy.

She returned to private practice in 2022, as Partner at DLA Piper ABBC. Since 2024, she is Partner and Head of the Life Sciences Department of Antas da Cunha ECIJA.

Patrícia graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (2003) and has been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2005. Holds an "Executive Education Healthcare Compliance Implementation Leadership Programme" at INSEAD (Fontainebleau).
