Marco Alexandre Saias (born in Lisbon in 1979), Of Counsel at Antas da Cunha Ecija & Associados since 2023.

Graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon School of Law in 2004, and obtained a Master's degree in Intellectual Property from Carlos III University in Madrid in 2007.

During 2007 he worked as inHouse at Prisa Innova and GDM, both belonging to Grupo PRISA - Promotora de Informaciones, S.A., in Madrid.

Returned to Portugal in the late 2007, where he acted as intellectual property lawyer and managing partner of the consulting firm IP Solutions until the end of 2011.

Between 2011 and 2013 he practiced independently in the areas of Intellectual Property, Privacy and Data Protection, Information Technology, Information Security, Cyberlaw, Cybersecurity and Cybercrime, providing also intellectual property management services to several start-ups.

In 2014 he joined PRA - Raposo, Sá Miranda & Associados, Sociedade de Advogados, as an Associate, and was promoted in 2017 to Senior Associate, always in the areas of Privacy and Data Protection, Information Technology, Information Security, Cyberlaw, Cybersecurity and Cybercrime and Intellectual Property. As a Senior Associate, he performed management functions for the Privacy and Information Technology practice areas within the department.

In February 2019 he becomes Data Protection Officer for the Associação Nacional das Farmácias (ANF) and the companies of the ANF Universe: Alliance Healthcare; Farminveste - Investimentos, Participações e Gestão, S.A.; Finanfarma - Sociedade Financeira de Crédito, S.A. GLINTT (GLINTT - Business Solutions, Lda.; GLINTT - Global Intelligent Technologies, S.A.; GLINTT - Healthcare Solutions, S.A.; GLINTT Inov, S.A.); HMR Health Market Research International, S.A., and Health Market Research Ireland Limited (since 2020); and, Infosaúde - Instituto de Formação e Inovação em Saúde, S.A..

During this period, he also coordinates the Data Protection Officers located outside Portugal (GLINTT España, S.L., and Health Market Research España, S.L.), and provides legal support regarding privacy and data protection for Alphega Portugal, Lda. (Alliance Healthcare universe), Associação Dignitude, and HLTSYS - Healthysystems, S.A. (GLINTT).

Since November 2016 he has been a lecturer in several postgraduate courses in the areas of Privacy, Data Protection and Digital Law, namely at Autónoma Academy (Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa) and CESICP - Center for Studies in Information Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy (ISEC).

He also has complementary training in the Privacy Program Management (IAPP - Brussels, 2019), the General Course on Classified Information Security (Portugal’s National Security Office, 2015), and, An Introduction to Operations Management (University of Pennsylvania - The Wharton School, 2013).

In addition to being OneTrust PrivacyConnect - Lisbon Chapter CoChair since September 2020, he regularly participates in several events on Privacy and Data Protection, Information Technology, Information Security, Cyberlaw and Cybersecurity.

He is a member of IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
